Meter Testing and Standards Compliance

Compliance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards is the gold seal of product safety and reliability. It’s the benchmark manufacturers strive to achieve and prudent customers expect.

The Stratus® electricity meter doesn’t just meet—it exceeds—all relevant ANSI and UL 2735 safety and performance standards.

We don’t stop there and test beyond those standards to ensure our meters operate safely in the real world. Additional tests we conduct include:

  • Highly accelerated life cycle testing (HALT)
  • Extreme temperature and humidity
  • Endurance/long-term testing for service switch
  • High temperature and hot sockets
  • High/low voltage
  • Extreme water intrusion

We are also engaged in accrediting programs including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

Quality Test and Validation

In addition to the above testing, we perform numerous tests at time of manufacture on every electricity meter that we produce. These tests are completed at several test stations in the production process to ensure each meter passes all manufacturing steps prior to being shipped to our customers. All of these testing measures are put in place to ensure that the Sensus Stratus electricity meter is safe, reliable and accurate.
